Hart County is a county located in the U.S. state — or, more correctly, "Commonwealth" — of Kentucky. It was formed in 1819. As of 2000, the population was 17,445. Its county seat is Munfordville. The county is named for Captain Nathaniel G.T. Hart, a Kentucky Militia officer in the War of 1812 honored after the Battle of River Raisin. Hart County is a prohibition or dry county.
